Franklin Public Library Pandemic Reopening Policy

Approved May, 2020

This policy is designed to be in compliance with all Executive Orders put forth by the Governor of the State of Michigan and with guidance from the National Centers for Disease Control and Oakland County health services or other health and safety organizations deemed appropriate.

Because a pandemic situation is so fluid the Franklin Public Library Board will delegate authority for the development of the Library Reopening Plan to be changed as needed on a day to day basis by the Library Director. This authority may include, but not be limited to the following:  Deciding when to move from phase to phase within the plan, adopting and adjusting cleaning protocols, cancelling or limiting programs, deciding staffing needs, adopting and enforcing safety protocols for staff and patrons and closing the library if the situation warrants.

Should a patron have issues with any part of this policy or the Library’s Reopening Plan and enforcement they are free to appeal decisions at any time to the Franklin Public Library Board of Trustees.
