Isaac's Storm chronicles the 1900 Galveston hurricane, the deadliest natural disaster in US history, which killed over 6,000 people. It focuses on Isaac Cline, a confident U.S. Weather Bureau meteorologist who believed, along with the Weather Bureau’s central office’s bureaucracy, that a major hurricane could not strike the city, leading to a failure to warn residents in time and leaving Galveston unprepared.

The book details the intense hurricane, which featured winds over 135 mph and a devastating storm surge that wiped out the city.

Isaac Cline lost his wife during the storm and his daughter nearly died, forcing him to face the consequences of the failed forecast.

EVERYONE WELCOME.
