"Eartha & Kitt: A Daughter's Love Story in Black and White" is a memoir written by Kitt Shapiro, detailing her life growing up as the daughter of renowned entertainer Eartha Kitt, exploring their close relationship, the challenges of being raised by a single, famous Black mother, and the complex dynamics of their biracial family dynamic, where Kitt is light-skinned while Eartha was visibly Black; the book offers a unique perspective into Eartha Kitt's life and legacy as seen through the eyes of her daughter, highlighting her struggles with poverty, abandonment in childhood, and her rise to fame as a singer and actress.
