The story follows Theo, a mysterious, elderly Portuguese man who arrives in the fictional Southern town of Golden, Georgia. After discovering 92 pencil portraits of local residents hanging in a coffee shop, Theo begins purchasing them one by one. He makes it his mission to track down the "rightful owners" (the subjects of the portraits) and gift the artwork to them anonymously or through quiet meetings.These acts of kindness spark deep conversations, forge new friendships, and transform the lives of the townspeople.
